    • Carbon filters work by adsorbing (not absorbing) contaminant molecules onto the surface of carbon pores. This makes them very effective in removing organic contaminants from water and air. Carbon filters need to be replaced or regenerated periodically because their adsorption capacity will decrease over time as the carbon pores fill with contaminants.
